Hey, Crazy Dog People!

Utah Dog Photography That Celebrates Mud, Motion, and Mayhem

If you’ve ever worried that your dog is 'too wild' or 'too much' for a photo session, you’ve found your people. At Take A Hike Photography, we turn muddy paws, flying ears, and wiggly butts into art you’ll want to hang on every wall. Forget stiff poses and studio pressure. Here, every bark, zoomie, and slobbery grin is welcome. Our sessions are designed for active pups and anxious owners alike. You’ll get a relaxed, laughter-filled experience, and the kind of wall art that makes you feel all the 'feelie wheelies' every time you walk by. From the Utah mountains and Bonneville Salt Flats to your own backyard, we capture the magic in the mess because life with dogs is never boring, and your photos shouldn’t be either.

Dogs belong on the couch and the walls. Let’s make it happen.

Behind the Lens

The Art of Dog Hair Confetti and Salty Shoes

Take A Hike Photography was born out of a love for muddy adventures, real connection, and the kind of moments that happen when you let dogs be dogs. Our philosophy? Chaos is not only okay, it’s the secret sauce. We welcome dogs of all ages, sizes, and quirks. If your pup is a pro at rolling in puddles, barking at clouds, or giving the world’s best side-eye, even better. Every session is a collaboration between you, your dog, and Lexie, a fellow crazy dog person who knows that magic lives in the mess. From Park City to the Salt Flats, we scout the best Utah spots for light, color, and that perfect backdrop. When all is said and done, you’ll get more than digital files. You’ll get hand-delivered, high-quality wall art that turns your four-legged family member into poetry on paws. Let’s get salty, muddy, and make something you’ll treasure forever.

FAQS

Your Dog Photography Questions Answered

  • What if my dog is too hyper during the session?

That is completely normal and honestly expected. Sessions are designed with no time limit so your dog can run, play, and settle naturally without pressure to behave perfectly.

  • Do dogs need to be trained or know commands?

Not at all. The focus is personality, not perfection. Whether your dog listens well or does their own thing, we work with it and capture real moments.

  • Can you remove leashes from photos safely?

Yes. Dogs can stay safely on leash during the session and it is professionally removed during editing so your final images look natural and free.

  • How long does a typical dog photography session take?

There is no set time limit. Sessions move at your dog’s pace so they can warm up, explore, and show their true personality without being rushed.

  • When will I receive my photos and artwork?

Editing typically takes about one to two weeks. After that, your prints and products are prepared and hand delivered so they are ready to enjoy.

It's not very often you get to visit a place that feels like another planet, but when you get that chance I beg you to go! The Bonneville Salt Flats is like a place out of this world. Miles and miles of sparkling ground that goes on forever! We went this May and were lucky to see it when a thin layer of water took over creating amazing reflections and ughh let me tell you about the sunsets! Im blessed with great friends and even greater husband that will follow me on my photography adventures and will drive 3 hours on a whim. I was able photograph to my hearts extent. At the beginning of this adventure my pants were black but when we left they were white. I have never been so salty in my life! If you ever visit, whether it be for a photoshoot of a life time or just passing through, be prepared to get SALTY! My camera gear warns you. My husband and friends were there shooting for about 2 hours, at the end of the day the sunset was incredible!
