Utah's Adventure-Ready Dog Photographer: Real Moments, Wild Spirits

Take A Hike Photography captures the true chaos, love, and energy of your dog’s life in Utah’s mountains, Salt Flats, and beyond. Forget stiff poses. This is personality, mud, and pure joy, delivered as stunning wall art.

Personality Over Poses

Why Personality Matters More Than Poses

At Take A Hike Photography, every muddy paw print is a story and every wag means the world. Based in Utah, we focus on outdoor dog photography for pet owners who see their dogs as family, adventure buddies, and comic relief all at once. Our sessions are built for movement, mess, and those unscripted moments that make your pup truly unforgettable. Whether we’re chasing the last rays at the Bonneville Salt Flats, climbing a snowy peak in Park City, or rolling around in your own backyard, our goal is to make every session feel like a celebration of your dog’s unique spirit. This isn’t about perfection. It’s about capturing the heart and soul of your best friend, so you can relive the magic long after the mud is gone.

Our Story

Every Dirty Paw and Slobbery Grin Tells a Story

Take A Hike Photography was started from the belief that dogs aren’t meant to sit still, and neither are their photos. Lexie Clayburn, our founder and lead photographer, grew up chasing her own floppy-eared shadow through the Utah foothills. She knows firsthand that dogs crash into you, tumble through wildflowers, and turn every walk into a muddy adventure. Forget the judgmental studio experience. Here, chaos is welcome. We’ve built our process around patience, humor, and a camera ready for anything, so even the rowdiest dogs get their moment of glory. From leash removal in post-processing to hand-delivered acrylics and metals, every detail is designed for dog lovers who want more than just a pretty picture. You want to remember the wiggles, the splashes, and the wild-eyed joy. So do we.

Our Mission

Real Utah Dogs, Real Memories, Real Wall Art

Our mission is rooted in honoring the messy reality of dog life: mud, slobber, and all. We document the journey from clumsy puppy days to the wise old snout, knowing these moments are fleeting. Every session in Summit County, Salt Lake City, or out at the Salt Flats is designed to ease owner anxieties. No time limits, no pressure, just plenty of room for your dog to shine. We’re not about stiff, awkward poses. We want the personality, the zoomies, and the 'did you just see that?' moments. Our editing process takes care of the technical stuff, like leash removal, so your dog can safely be themselves. At the end, you don’t just get digital files. You get museum-quality wall art, hand delivered, so your dog’s story lives on the walls of your home as a daily reminder of your adventures together.
